In a typical house in the UK, it is likely that you have one of two possible heating system style; the conventional heating system or the combi boiler heating system. You can read more about the difference between these systems below.

The Conventional Heating System

The Conventional heating system needs to have 2 water tanks (one cold water storage, and the other an expansion/ feed tank) both located high up. A hot water cylinder is also required. The storage cylinder holds a large amount of hot water that is available to use almost immediately, however when the store has been used up it needs to be reheated which could take up to an hour. This system isn’t considered to be the most efficient as there is heat loss in the pipe work between the boiler and the cylinder.

Combi Boiler Heating Systems

Combi Boiler Heating systems are now the most used form of central heating boilers. Most Combi’s run on mains pressure water, which means they do not need tanks to be placed in the loft. They also take away the requirement for a hot water cylinder, as they heat the water instantly when it is needed. Another benefit with the combi boiler heating system is that, because it runs from the mains water supply, you can create an effective power shower without the need for a pump. Combi boilers require the least amount of plumbing whilst being installed, therefore are less costly.

Our Eco Dragon heating installers are not only highly skilled in installing new heating systems, but also in converting existing systems to turn them into modern ones. For example, in a recent project we converted a back-boiler heating system into a combi boiler system, removing a large cylinder and creating a large space for the customer to be able to use as a airing cupboard (you can view the final result below).

Our most common boiler installations are Baxi, Worcester and Grant boilers. We work closely with the customer to ensure they are happy with the boiler they choose to have installed dependant on their fuel type and boiler location.
